Kenyan Youth Champion visits Azerbaijani Embassy

Charlene Ruto, Kenyan Youth Champion, climate activist, founder and patron of the SMACHS Foundation, and daughter of the President of Kenya, visited on Monday the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the country.

Charlene Ruto first viewed National Leader Heydar Aliyev's memorial room, and the corner dedicated to the Azerbaijani statehood created in the embassy’s administrative building, and paid tribute to his memory.

Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev provided an insight into the history of Azerbaijani statehood, the life and activities of Heydar Aliyev, the architect of modern Azerbaijan, his mission of salvation, and the achievements of the country during the period of independence. The ambassador also mentioned the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity following the glorious Victory in 2020, the country’s large-scale reconstruction works and humanitarian demining efforts in the post-conflict period.

Ambassador Hajiyev highlighted the humanitarian activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as numerous international projects implemented by the Foundation. The diplomat noted that during her visit to Nairobi, in December 2024, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, inaugurated the fully equipped laboratory and computer room of the Nairobi Secondary School, as part of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's "Development of Education and Culture across African Countries" project. The Foundation also provided medical equipment to the newborn care facilities of several hospitals in Kenya.

Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev underlined that Azerbaijan will host the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) and World Environment Day (WED2026) in 2026.
