Ding Tao: Leading Chinese renewable energy companies signed agreements with Azerbaijan at COP29

Leading Chinese renewable energy companies signed several key cooperation agreements with Azerbaijan at the COP29 climate conference held in Baku from November 11-22 this year, China's Chargé d'Affaires to Azerbaijan, Ding Tao, said during a year-end press conference.

According to Report, he recalled that at COP29, Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, participated as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative.

Ding Tao emphasized that significant results were achieved at COP29.

During COP29, major Chinese renewable energy companies, such as Power Construction Corporation of China and China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd (Energy China), signed important cooperation documents with Azerbaijan, planning to implement several new large-scale energy projects in the country, he said.

The diplomat noted that a Chinese company won Azerbaijan's first open international tender for renewable energy projects - the 100 MW Gobustan solar power plant project. China Southern Power Grid International Limited (Hong Kong) and Powerchina Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding on energy storage with Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy.

The Chinese Chargé d'Affaires noted that an increasing number of Chinese companies and research institutes are visiting Azerbaijan to exchange experience and discuss cooperation in solar and wind energy, energy storage, and green hydrogen production.
