The Declaration on Reducing Organic Waste Methane Emissions (ROW), put forward by the COP29 presidency, is extremely important during this period of urgent action to reduce methane emissions and to achieve the global 1.5°C target, UAE Assistant Foreign Minister Abdulla Balalaa said at the event "Reducing Methane Emissions from Organic Waste for Climate Action" within COP29, according to Report.
"The UAE is proud to support this declaration, as reducing emissions in the waste sector is crucial in fighting climate change. We aim to reduce landfill waste by 80% this decade, which will lead to a 37% reduction in emissions from the waste sector. To support this goal, we will introduce comprehensive national regulations governing recycling facilities," said Balalaa.
