Global warming directly affects millions of people living in the Caspian region, Vladimir Grebnev, regional climate change specialist at the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia, said at the forum "The Caspian Sea and Sustainable Development: Environmental Protection" held within the framework of COP29.

Report quotes him as saying climate change is a global reality facing the entire world, and the Caspian region is no exception:

"Global warming, changes in water levels, ecosystem degradation, and intensification of natural disasters directly affect millions of people living in the Caspian region. These challenges require collective, coordinated actions. Only joint efforts and exchange of experience will help develop effective strategies for adaptation and mitigation of climate change consequences."

The expert emphasized the importance of preserving the biodiversity and ecosystem of the Caspian Sea:

"The Caspian region is not just an ecosystem, but also an important economic and energy center."
