Our participation and the lessons we learn from this summit will shape plans for the future. Our vision for COP29 is to increase ambition and enable action to be taken in an inclusive and transparent manner. Azerbaijan is working to support all parties to raise their ambitions through their national climate action plans, national adaptation plans and transparency reports,” Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Azerbaijan, President-designate of COP29 Mukhtar Babayev said in a video message to the summit participants.
The minister emphasized that the COP29 presidency will bring the focus on other issues that are important to all parties.
“These include issues of biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, water resources, science, technology and innovation, sustainable urbanization and health,” he explained.
Babayev said Azerbaijan is working to enable action by agreeing on a fair and ambitious new climate finance target, finalizing Article 6 of the Convention, strengthening global financial institutions and ensuring private sector commitment to climate action.
