The European LINKS Foundation held a conference themed "COP29 and beyond - peace, security and climate change" in Germany's Bonn on May 3 as part of the process of preparing international community for COP29 to be hosted in Azerbaijan.
Report informs that the conference was attended by representatives of the UN, the European Union, as well as influential non-governmental organizations and think tanks.
The conference was opened by the UAE's chief climate negotiator Hana AlHashimi, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan Nigar Arpadarai, and the Director of Energy Diplomacy, Climate and Security at the German Foreign Ministry Markus Hicken.
The speekers noted a serious relationship between climate change and future conflicts, and also emphasized the importance of finding joint responses to such new global challenges within the framework of COP29.
