An Azerbaijani neighborhood is being built in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey.
The neighborhood is being built to thank Azerbaijan for its help and support after the February 6 earthquake.
Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality Chairman Hayrettin Güngör said about this.
According to him, the 100 million dollar part of the neighborhood to be built on 320 sot area is covered by Azerbaijan.
Hayrettin Güngör noted that the area where residential houses will be built was named "Azerbaijan neighborhood" to thank Azerbaijan, which has been with Turkey since the first day of the disaster.
The foundation of the elementary school named after Heydar Aliyev was initially laid in the neighborhood on April 29.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the 24-class school through video conference.
While the construction of the elementary school named after Heydar Aliyev continues in the Azerbaijan neighborhood, foundation strengthening works are also being carried out in the areas where residences and workplaces will be built.
Hayrettin Güngör emphasized that a very nice neighborhood was built.
"From the point of view of its significance, this neighborhood was created with the support of our Azerbaijani brothers in this area where Heydar Aliyev Street and Azerbaijan Street intersect and was named "Azerbaijani neighborhood". Now, the cost of 100 million dollars for 1,323 residences and 799 workplaces here is covered by the brotherly country of Azerbaijan. Intensive work is being done on the 320-hectare area. is going," he said.
