Baku hosts 53th meeting of CIS Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Service
The 53rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS member countries has today been held in Baku.
The meeting was attended by Chief of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Ali Naghiyev, Chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Colonel General Orkhan Sultanov, and the heads of relevant authorities of the CIS countries.
Prior to the meeting, the event participants visited the Alley of Honors to lay flowers at the tomb of National Leader, founder and architect of modern Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev.In his opening remark, Chief of the State Security Service, Colonel General Ali Naghiyev highlighted the radical changes taken place in the world in terms of security and geopolitics, as well as new conflict centers, international terrorism, transnational organized crime, religious extremism and illegal drug trafficking.
Ali Naghiyev described the event as an arena which would create opportunities to exchange experience and ideas in the mentioned areas, to further improve the methods of joint fight of the CIS states against negative manifestations and the coordinated work mechanism, to outline the contours of future activities and to strengthen existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
