Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with a delegation led by Farzaneh Sadegh, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Co-Chair of the Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.
The sides welcomed the friendship and partnership between the heads of state, noting that these ties have propelled Azerbaijan-Iran relations — with deep historical roots — to a new stage across all sectors.
They emphasized the strategic role of the energy sector in bilateral relations, highlighting that the inclusion of energy issues in the Protocol of the 17th meeting of the State Commission on Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Cooperation reflects the importance attached to partnership in this field.
The ministers discussed joint projects, including the implementation of the Khudafarin, Giz Galasi, and Ordubad hydroelectric power stations, as well as plans for electricity exports. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation to accelerate the implementation of the projects on the agenda.
