Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia has entered a new stage in both traditional and renewable energy sectors, Azerbaijan's Minister of Finance Sahil Babayev said at an event dedicated to Serbia's Statehood Day, Report informs.
According to the minister, Serbia has become a transit country for Azerbaijan's energy exports to the Balkan countries and rest of Europe.
Babayev noted that both countries attach special importance to expanding cooperation in the areas of economy, finance, transport infrastructure, air transport, defense, agriculture, labor and social protection, education, science, culture, and tourism.
He added that the increase in trade turnover between the two countries by more than 17 times over the past year demonstrates the dynamic development of economic ties between the two countries.
The minister noted that political relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are at a high level, and strategic partnership continues to strengthen: "The signing of a memorandum on establishing the Strategic Partnership Council in 2022 brought cooperation to a new level."
Sahil Babayev emphasized that more than 50 documents have been signed between the countries, providing a solid legal foundation for bilateral relations: "Azerbaijan and Serbia effectively cooperate within international organizations, demonstrating commitment to the principles of international law, providing mutual support to each other, taking principled positions on issues of territorial integrity and sovereignty."
