Chargé d'Affaires: Iran-Azerbaijan trade grew by over 30% in 2024

Trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan increased by more than 30% in 2024, Seyyed Jafar Aghayi Marian, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan, said at an official reception in Baku, held on the occasion of Iran's National, Report informs.

Marian noted that this increase marks a record in trade turnover between the two countries. "The visit of Shahin Mustafayev to Iran and the 16th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic, trade, and humanitarian cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan indicates that this year will be even more prosperous for both countries," he stated.

The diplomat highlighted that various joint projects in the fields of transport, energy, and industry between the two countries continue to progress rapidly.

He mentioned significant infrastructure projects such as the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), the Araz corridor, the new Astara border crossing point and terminal, and the construction of the Aghband-Kalala bridge as indicators of the great potential for economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran.
