The infrastructure work planned for September 19 as part of the expansion of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) will not lead to a decrease in gas supplies through this pipeline, the pipeline company TAP AG, which is the operator of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, told Report.

"It is known that TAP has planned infrastructural works at the IP of Kipoi from September 19 until September 30 as part of the TAP Expansion Project, following the successful outcome of the first Binding Phase of the 2021 Incremental Capacity Process. These works are not expected to impact the volumes of gas to be transported by TAP," reads the report.

"The 2021 Market Test resulted in binding commitments, which will add another 1.2 bcm/a to the pipeline capacity by January 1, 2026. TAP will add one compressor unit (ca 15MW) to the existing compressor station in Kipoi (Alexandroupolis area), at the Greek border with Türkiye and upgrade the facilities there. TAP has started the works required for making the incremental capacity available to the market since 2023. The works planned at the end of the month at the Interconnection Point of Kipoi are part of the construction activities required to make the additional long-term capacity available at the start of 2026."

Earlier, TAP AG Managing Director Luca Schieppati told Report that this is the first stage of the gas pipeline expansion project, and it is financed by TAP's own funds. The project budget is about 132 million euros. The supply of Azerbaijani gas via TAP began on December 31, 2020.
