An Uzbek company has initiated the implementation of a cotton growing cluster project in Azerbaijan.

According to Report, 5,000 hectares of land in Azerbaijan’s Imishli district have been allocated to TST Textile Group LLC, a company established in Azerbaijan by the Uzbek company Tukimachi Sanoat Tekstil LLC.

The initial investment for the cotton cluster project, which includes modern cotton farming, processing, spinning, weaving, sewing, and cottonseed oil production enterprises, is approximately 90 million manats (about $52.9 million).

Additionally, the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Friendship Gardens project will be implemented on a 100-hectare area in Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli district.

This project will be carried out by a joint LLC, planned to be established by Uzbekistan’s Uzgreenagro LLC and Azerbaijan’s Zafar Baghlari LLC.

An investment of up to 5 million manats (over $2.9 million) is planned for this project, with 50% of the funds coming from Uzbekistan and 50% from Azerbaijan.

The orchard will feature various types of fruit trees, including those imported from Uzbekistan.

In the next phase, the project aims to expand the gardens and establish facilities for deep processing of the products.

Future plans include creating new areas of activity as part of the production expansion. The plan is to first put the products from horticultural activities on sale in the markets of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, and then jointly export them to other markets.
