As the crisis in the world economy deepens, the issue of opening the Zangazur Corridor is growing more relevant, Turkish MP Samil Ayrim, who heads the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group, told Report.

"This corridor is currently of great importance for the countries of the region as well as for China," he said.

Ayrim noted that after the victory in the 44-day war, Azerbaijan has done huge work on the Zangazur corridor and the construction of the railroad is almost complete:

“Although Armenia initially reacted negatively to these goodwill activities, the determined stance of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, especially the logical and diplomatic negotiations of President Ilham Aliyev, convinced Armenia that the corridor would bring great benefits to this country. The attempts of the West, especially France, which was expelled from Africa, and the Armenian diaspora ‘to muddy the waters’, are no longer producing the expected results. Though the West is concerned by the contribution of the Zangazur Corridor to the Turkic world, Mr. Aliyev's saying that the Turkic world is our family, Türkiye's expansion of cooperation with Asian countries, Türkiye's participation in the latest Shanghai summit, justice is established in its natural course to the benefit of both the East and the West.”

Ayrim also said that the opening of the Zangazur corridor will play a key role in the development of trade, economy, industry, education, communication, technology, and health services relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as well as in the Turkic world.
