Within the framework of the Azerbaijan Rapid Technical Assistance Facility (AZTAF), the World Bank will help Azerbaijan reduce the volume of non-revenue water by 40%, Smita Misra, Senior Water Supply and Sanitation Specialist at the World Bank, told journalists, Report informs.

“The sources of 70% of rivers in Azerbaijan are in foreign countries, and this is a serious challenge regarding drinking water in the country. It is planned to reduce the infrastructure flow index of real losses from 16.4 to 8 and commercial losses from 5% to 0.7%. This requires a budget of approximately $163 million over 5 years, or $33 million per year. This can be achieved through mixed financing sources, including public-private financing,” she said.
