By 2040, thermal energy consumption in Baku will be increased to 6,466,913 MW, Report informs with reference to the General Development Plan of Baku until 2040.

According to the document, this is 5,011,253 MW or 4.4 times more than in 2020 (the plan development period).

According to forecasts, in 2027 this figure will be 3,025,095 MW.

There are many factors that can further affect the city’s heat supply system. Among them, it is worth noting population growth and energy efficiency standards that should be applied to both old and new buildings. The introduction of standards will lead to a significant reduction in heat demand.

In addition, in the residential areas under construction, it is planned to build joint production plants to provide heat and electricity supply.
