Ashgabat hosts meeting of High-Level Working Group on Caspian Sea

The 6th meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea has been held in the city of Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

The meeting, which brought together delegations from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, was chaired by head of the delegation of Turkmenistan M.G. Atajanov.

The parties discussed the provisions of the draft Agreement on the methodology for establishing straight baselines in the Caspian Sea, as well as agreed on a number of provisions of the draft. The mentioned document will be discussed during the next meeting of the High-Level Working Group.

The meeting also focused on the preparations for the meeting of foreign ministers of Caspian littoral countries.

The delegations highly appreciated the results of the negotiations and expressed their gratitude to Turkmenistan for the excellent organization of the meeting.

The next meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea will be held in Azerbaijan.
