Euronews: Azerbaijan hosted a spectacular event for judo fans worldwide

The Euronews TV Channel has broadcast several reportages highlighting the 2025 Baku Grand Slam held at the National Gymnastics Arena on February 14-16.

Headlined “Japan Sweeps Day 1 of Baku Grand Slam with Five Golds,” “Azerbaijan Strikes Gold as Stars Shine in New Weight Categories,” and “German Rivalry Reignites as Japan Claims 10 Golds in Baku, the reportages commended Azerbaijan’s excellent organization of the judo tournament, describing it as a mainstay on the IJF World Judo Tour.

“The final day of the 2025 Baku Grand Slam delivered thrilling judo action. Murao Sanshiro, Arai Dota, Ruri Takahashi and Ota Hyoga led Japan to a total of 10 golds. Anna Monta Olek triumphed in a fierce German showdown. Azerbaijan hosted a spectacular event for judo fans worldwide,” the reportage noted.

The reportage mentioned that Azerbaijan saw the final day of the 2025 Baku Grand Slam, where yet more crowd poured into the National Gymnastics Arena.

“The stars were here, ready to perform for an expectant audience full of some incredibly excited judo fans.

There was a chance for some aspiring judoka from The Adaptive Judo for Children Project to take to a grand slam tatami. A celebration of judo’s true universality and inclusion for all,” it further added.
