President of Azerbaijan Chess Federation, FIDE Vice-President Mahir Mammadov attended a solemn event in Paris, marking the centenary anniversary of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
Along with FIDE officials, the jubilee event was graced by world chess stars.
During the visit, Mahir Mammadov met with FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich to explore future prospects of cooperation between the institutions.
In 1966, UNESCO decided to celebrate July 20 annually as International Chess Day.
