Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard successfully defended his NBA 3-point contest title with a victory over Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young in the final round of the All-Star Weekend competition, according to Marca.
Lillard, 33, won the shooting contest last season while still a part of the Portland Trail Blazers and this year became only the eighth player ever to win at least two 3-point crowns. He almost missed out on the opportunity to succeed.
Young, 25, and three other players finished tied in the first round at 26 points each. Lillard tied their score and it went to a tiebreaker, which saw Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers eliminated.
Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl Anthony-Towns, who won the 3-point contest a couple years ago, was the next eliminated player, leaving Lillard and Young to battle in the final round.
Lillard defeated Young by just two points in the last round to secure his spot as the league's best 3-point shooter, well except for Stephen Curry, who defeated Sabrina Ionescu in a competition of their own shortly after.
