A field firing exercise BULWARK-25 will take place at the Koren Training Ground near Haskovo (Southeastern Bulgaria) between February 24 and 26, 2025, according to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).
Up to 500 service persons will be involved in the exercise, mainly from the headquarters and elements of the 10th Mechanized Battalion of Vratsa (Nothwestern Bulgaria), the 59th NBC Protection Battalion of Gorna Oryahovitsa (North Central Bulgaria) and the 3rd Mechanized Battalion of Blagoevgrad (Southwestern Bulgaria). Within the framework of BULWARK-25, Italy, as an Allied nation, will integrate its participation with a battery of NATO's Multinational Battlegroup in Bulgaria.
BULWARK-25 is taking place as part of NATO's Exercise Steadfast Dart 2025 and is focused on planning, training, deployment and participation of a land forces component in the execution of a defence operation. The Exercise Scheduling Officer is Major General Deyan Deshkov, Commander of the Bulgarian Land Forces, and the Exercise Execution Officer is Colonel Kiril Spanevikov, Commander of the Third Brigade Command.
The bulk of the exercise leaders and the personnel of the 10th Mechanized Battalion, the company of the 59th NBC Protection Battalion and the logistics company of the Third Brigade Command were transported on February 16 and 17 to a deployment area at the Koren Training Ground.
Two company combat exercises related to BULWARK-25 will be held from February 19 to 22.
