Representatives of independence movements from regions such as the Comoros Islands, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Saint Martin, Corsica and Martinique held a protest rally dedicated to "Decolonization Day" at the Trocadero - Human Rights Square in Paris, France.
During the rally, organized by the Baku Initiative Group, participants enchanted various slogans such as "Let's stand together against injustice," "Let's fight for freedom," "Together for a free future," "Decolonization starts now," Our unity is our strength: colonialism must end" and etc.
The protesters called for the implementation of Resolution 1514 (XV) adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 14, 1960, and urged the international community and organizations to respond adequately to the current situation in the colonies.
The Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 14 December 1960.
