Classes at all levels, public office work, and sea travel were suspended in Dinagat Islands on Thursday afternoon as the enhanced southwest monsoon, intensified by Tropical Storm Bebinca, brought adverse weather conditions to the province, reports the Philippine News Agency (PNA).
The province has been placed under Blue Code Alert status to facilitate disaster response.
"The response clusters are activated to ensure timely response and humanitarian assistance for all affected sectors in Dinagat Islands," Demerey said.
The order also directed local government units, line agencies, and other stakeholders to implement precautionary measures to safeguard the community.
In response to the weather disturbance, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel for vessels and watercraft under 30 tons in Dinagat Islands.
Similar measures were implemented in Siargao Island, where the PCG halted the operations of watercraft weighing three tons and below.
