The Peloton de la gendarmerie d'haute montagne of Chamonix on Tuesday found the bodies of two Italian mountaineers who were reported missing on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc amid violent storms on Saturday, according to ANSA.
The victims are Andrea Galimberti, 53, from Como, and Sara Stefanelli, 41, from Genoa.
The bodies were located at an altitude of over 4,500 metres in the area of "Mur de la Cote" that leads to the top of Mont Blanc on the French side and taken to Chamonix.
The Italian climbers were last reported to be stranded near the summit due to the extreme weather at an altitude of 4,500 metres.
As part of the search operation carried out by the Peloton de la gendarmerie d'haute montagne from Chamonix, French media reported that the bodies of two South Korean climbers were also recovered on Tuesday.
The South Korean mountaineers had also been missing since last Saturday.
