Over 100 people hospitalized due to snowfall in Tokyo

About 120 people have been hospitalized due to snowfall in Tokyo, Report informs referring to Kyodo.

The victims, ranging in age from 4 to 92 years, were taken to hospitals after falls on ice. Thus, about 109 people were hospitalized in Tokyo. In Kanagawa Prefecture, five people were seriously injured and 34 people had minor injuries. In Saitama Prefecture, 12 people also suffered minor injuries.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has now lifted the heavy snowfall warning for nine prefectures, but snowfall and rain continued in some areas until the morning of February 6. Due to the severity of the disaster, the speed of some trains was reduced, and 31 flights were canceled at Tokyo Haneda Airport. Some sections of the expressway remain closed.
