The bodies that were discovered off the coast of Antalya province this week may belong to illegal migrants, Report informs referring to Haberturk TV channel.

In just the last five days, six bodies of men and women have been pulled from the water near the beaches of Antalya in the areas of Alanya and Manavgat. According to preliminary estimates, they stayed in the water for a long time.

Forensic experts have not yet identified the victims. There is speculation that one of the bodies may belong to an 18-year-old Turkish citizen who disappeared in Antalya about two weeks ago. To establish her identity, DNA samples were taken from her possible relatives.

Meanwhile, it is possible that the dead were illegal migrants, and their bodies were washed up on the coast of Antalya by the current.

The Aegean Sea, located west of Antalya, remains an area of active illegal migration to Europe. The Turkish Coast Guard in the region regularly intercepts boats carrying illegal immigrants or rescues people after their boats sank.
