Monument to Nursultan Nazarbayev removed in Astana
The monument to ex-President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, which stood in front of the National Defense University, has been dismantled in Astana, Report informs referring to Kazakh media.
The Kazakh Ministry of Defense confirmed this news, linking it with the change of name of the educational institution.
“In this regard, it was decided to dismantle the monument to the first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was located on the territory of the National Defense University, and reinstall it in the building of the State Military History Museum of the Armed Forces,” the ministry noted.
At the moment, the monument is in temporary storage in one of the premises of the defense ministry. After preparatory activities, the monument will be moved to the museum building for installation.
