Two people and a suspected shooter are dead after gunfire at a Super 8 motel in rural Minnesota, US, prompted police to issue a shelter-in-place order for the community, Report informs via The Daily Mail.

Authorities say three people were found dead, including the suspect, according to the Duluth News Tribune.

Police have also not released details on what led to the shooting at the motel near Big Lake Road and Highway 33 in Cloquet, around 20 miles from Duluth.

The shooter was found deceased around 8pm, and the identity of the suspect has not been released.

The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. (GMT-6) and prompted police in the town of about 12,000 people to tell locals to shelter in their homes. The order was lifted about an hour after the shooting.

Police were initially called by a motel employee who said another worker appeared to have been attacked.

When police arrived, they found a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A 35-year-old man was also found dead in a car in the motel parking lot.

Authorities found a 32-year-old man dead outside the hotel property from a self-inflicted gunshot. A gun was found next to him.

Police have not released a motive or said if the suspects knew the suspected shooter.
