The Iranian authorities will in the near future provide a license to the first satellite Internet operator in the history of the Islamic Republic, whose activities will be coordinated with the Iranian side, Report informs referring to IRNA.
The UAE-based Yahsat company and its provider YahСlick are ready to provide satellite Internet services to Iranian citizens; the Iranian government supports this initiative.
The corresponding agreements were signed on December 15, at the Iranian Consulate General in Dubai in the presence of the Consul General and several representatives of the Iranian Ministry of Communications.
The agency noted that Yahsat will represent an alternative to the Starlink, the founder of which, Elon Musk, during the protests in Iran in the fall of 2022, expressed his readiness to provide Iranians with access to the Internet, which was limited by the authorities.
