The UN has already raised more than a third of $294 million needed for humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, XQ informs referring to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The participating countries have pledged almost $100 million to the October 12 flash appeal to address humanitarian needs caused by the current crisis, which will cover approximately 34% of the total amount of $294 million, reads the press release.

It was also noted that the lack of clean drinking water, as well as the consumption of water from unsafe sources remains a serious problem.

According to OCHA, the humanitarian aid already delivered to Gaza didn’t include fuel, which is desperately needed to power hospitals and water facilities. The agency said that 12 hospitals and 46 primary care clinics have already been forced to close due to damage or lack of electricity and supplies.
