Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) of SOCAR hosted a solemn event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev.

Opening the event with a welcoming speech, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov spoke about the scientific legacy of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev, his significant contribution to the development of Azerbaijani science, and his exceptional role in training specialists for the country. The Rector noted that the name of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev is always spoken with deep respect within the walls of the university, and that a worthy continuation of his scientific legacy is one of the important responsibilities facing the youth.

“10 of the students who received the Presidential Scholarship at Baku Higher Oil School this year are majoring in Chemical Engineering, which testifies to the growing interest of highly educated young people in this field. BHOS has established the Yusif Mammadaliyev Scholarship Program. This scholarship is awarded annually to two chemical engineering students with high academic achievements.”

At the event, fifth-year chemical engineering students Abil Shafiyev and Shamil Farzalizade were announced as the first recipients of the Yusif Mammadaliyev Scholarship.

Speaking at the event, the daughter of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev, professor and honored artist Sevda Mammadaliyeva, shared her memories of her father’s life and work. She noted that the scientific and public achievements of the academician were always highly valued by the country's leadership, and that the anniversary events dedicated to him were always organized at the highest level.

Then, Asmar Eyvazli, a second-year student majoring in Chemical Engineering, gave a presentation on the topic “Yusif Mammadaliyev through the eyes of students.”

After that, Executive Director of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes named after academician Yusif Mammadaliyev, Doctor of Technical Sciences Nizami Mursalov gave a presentation on the academician's scientific work.

Then a short video was shown about the opening ceremony of the monument to academician Yusif Mammadaliyev with the participation of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, professor Irada Huseynova, also delivered a speech at the event.

The event concluded with a screening of a documentary film dedicated to the life and work of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev, which was produced by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

As part of the 120th anniversary of the academician, a photo exhibition was also organized, showcasing various periods of his life and work.
