Baku Higher Oil School hosts Graduation Day

The Baku Higher Oil School of SOCAR (BHOS) has held another Graduation Day.

It was the eighth Graduation Day for bachelor's degree graduates and the sixth - for master’s degree graduates.

The event began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The graduation ceremony was attended by SOCAR’s Vice Presidents Ziba Mustafayeva and Zaur Gurbanov, SOCAR's Chief Communications Officer Aygun Huseynova, BHOS’s faculty and administrative staff, and parents.

Opening the event with a keynote speech, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov congratulated the graduates on a significant day and wished them success.

“I would like to stress with great pride that our students who have graduated this year work at various local industrial enterprises, including those of SOCAR, foreign companies, private and public institutions. Our graduates have also entered the prestigious universities across the world and have been awarded scholarships to continue their education. Our achievements once again prove that Baku Higher Oil School is a clear example of the successful realization of the slogan "We must turn oil capital into human capital!", proclaimed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. BHOS, established within the structure of SOCAR by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, since its inception, has been successfully fulfilling its mission of training highly qualified English-speaking specialists.”

The rector also noted that like in previous years, this year all BHOS graduates will traditionally be awarded diplomas on Graduation Day.

Speaking at the ceremony, SOCAR Vice President Ziba Mustafayeva conveyed congratulations of SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and wished the graduates success in the new stage of their lives.

"In addition to providing quality education to the students of Baku Higher Oil School, which is a social project of SOCAR, special attention is paid to their employment. BHOS graduates successfully work in a number of large local and foreign companies, state enterprises, including SOCAR. A total of 268 students graduated from Baku Higher Oil School this year. Of those, 23 graduated with honors and 117 are girls".

Faig Aliyev, a graduate of the specialty "Chemical Engineering" of BHOS, noted in his speech that professional knowledge and skills he acquired at Baku Higher Oil School will play an important role in the next stage of his life.

After the speeches, Aysu Zamanova, a graduate of Chemical Engineering specialty, the best BHOS graduate of 2024, the Student of the Year, engraved her name on a symbolic tree stump. Aysu Zamanova said that she is proud to be a BHOS graduate. She thanked the university leadership and dedicated teachers who had contributed greatly to her becoming a highly qualified specialist.

This was followed by the ceremony of awarding diplomas to graduates. First, diplomas were awarded to the graduates who graduated with honors, became the best students in their specialties. Then, diplomas were awarded to the graduates who were going to join military service.

The event then continued with the artistic part.

It should be noted that in the 2023/2024 academic year, a total of 268 students graduated from Baku Higher Oil School, 169 of whom are bachelor's degree graduates and 99 - master's degree graduates. 27 graduates participated in SOCAR's Young Talents Program. In this academic year, 46 students majoring in Petroleum Engineering, 56 students majoring in Chemical Engineering, 37 students majoring in Process Automation Engineering and 23 students majoring in Information Security graduated from Baku Higher Oil School with a bachelor's degree. In this academic year, 15 students of engineering specialties and 84 students of the MBA program graduated from BHOS with a master's degree.

Education
