A delegation led by the President of the Centre for Higher Defense Studies of Italian National Defense University, Lieutenant General Stefano Mannino visited Wednesday the National Defense University (NDU), the War Games Center, the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev, the Military Lyceum named after Jamshid Nakhchivanski, and one of the military units of the Naval Forces, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
During the meeting held at the NDU, Rector of the University, Major General Gunduz Abdulov expressed his pleasure with seeing the guests in Azerbaijan. The Rector emphasized that the successfully developing Azerbaijani-Italian relations in the field of military education are based on mutual trust.
Lieutenant General S.Mannino, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the hospitality. The guest noted that the meetings held will be beneficial for the military education sphere of both armies and specifically emphasized that the work done in this direction is useful for mutual exchange of experience.
Then, the Italian delegation was presented with a briefing on the NDU’s establishment history, education system, electronic admission procedures to special military educational institutions, as well as its goals and objectives. Guests’ questions were answered.
Lieutenant General S. Mannino signed the book of remembrance.
After the meeting, the Italian delegation visited the War Games Center, where they were provided with relevant information about the activities carried out at the center.
As part of the trip, the guests also visited the Military Institute named Heydar Aliyev and the Military Lyceum named after Jamshid Nakhchivanski of the NDU.
Within the visit, the guests laid flowers at the bust of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, and at the memorial complex dedicated to the Martyrs. Afterwards, the guests visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum located within the special military educational institutions and familiarized themselves with the photo corner reflecting the Great Leader’s life and political activity. They were also informed about his contributions to army development.
The Italian delegation got acquainted with the conditions created for cadets studying at the Military Lyceum and the Institute, listened to their opinions, and shared suggestions and recommendations. Italian musical compositions were performed by a military orchestra for the guests, and the delegation also watched exemplary performances of the cadets.
Then during the meeting held in the briefing hall, the sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
As part of their visit, the Italian delegation visited one of the military units of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces.
Welcoming the guests, Acting Commander of the Naval Forces, 1st grade Captain Shahin Mammadov emphasized that the Republic of Italy holds a special place in Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the world’s leading naval powers.
Then the guests were presented with a briefing on the military unit’s establishment history, combat path, and future objectives. Questions of the guests were answered. A wide exchange of views on issues of mutual interest was held during the meeting.
Within the visit, the guests were shown some of the military equipment available in the armament of the military unit, and detailed information was provided about their tactical-technical characteristics.
The guests also observed exemplary performances of the naval special forces at the training range.
