"Refugees and Women" international conference held

An international conference on "Refugees and Women" was held online on March 1, organized by the Women's Council of the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) with its support.

According to AZERTAC, the conference, held ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8, aimed to highlight the rights violations faced by women expelled from Western Azerbaijan. Recognizing March as Women’s Rights Month globally, the event gathered nearly 50 influential women from 12 countries who have led significant diaspora projects.

The conference featured prominent attendees, including Ramata Almamy Mbaye, Chief of Human and Social Sciences Sector at ISESCO, and Dinara Guliyeva, a diplomat and international expert at ISESCO. Leaders and members of the Ana Vatan European Azerbaijani Women’s Organization and the Odlar Yurdu Organization also participated.

Moderated by Malahat Ibrahimgizi, Chairperson of the WAC Women’s Council, the event addressed the council’s goals, action plan, and efforts to facilitate the return to Western Azerbaijan. She emphasized how the Concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan has quickly become a national ideology.

Tanzila Rustamkhanli, Head of the Coordination Council for International Relations of the Women’s Council, outlined the fundamental principles of the return concept. Ramata Mbaye highlighted ISESCO’s strong cooperation with Azerbaijan, reaffirming their commitment to future collaboration with the WAC, particularly the Women’s Council.

Speakers included Dinara Guliyeva, Ilaha Tagiyeva (Belgium), Saadat Karimi (Sweden), Aysel Sadak, Nigar Ogeday, Elif Selçuk, and Eda Genday (Turkiye), Dr. Esmaya Novruzova (Antalya), Shahla Bayramova, Tarana Musayeva, Lachin Babayeva (Boston), as well as Milli Majlis members Sabina Salmanova, Gunay Aghamali, Sabina Khasayeva, and Parvana Valiyeva. They emphasized the pivotal role of women in realizing the Concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan.

At the conclusion of the event, an appeal was adopted, calling on international organizations and First Ladies worldwide to support this cause.
