The Azerbaijan-NATO event focused on energy security and climate change issues opened in Baku on October 28, said Anar Mutallimov, Acting Head of the Military-Political Affairs Department of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Report informs.
He noted that the event was organized as part of the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's accession to NATO's Partnership for Peace framework document.
"The timing of our meeting is very significant in terms of joining NATO's Partnership for Peace program. Thirty years of cooperation with NATO have been guided by the commitments, values, and principles of the PfP Framework and NATO, as well as the UN Charter. This round will be an excellent opportunity to study energy security and climate change issues," said Mutallimov.
The roundtable is attended by representatives from NATO's Climate and Energy Security Sector of the Innovation, Hybrid Issues and Cybersecurity Division, representatives from member and partner countries, including experts in the relevant field, and academic representatives from relevant Azerbaijani institutions.
The event will include exchanges of views on energy security and Azerbaijan's role in ensuring Europe's energy security, possible threats and risks to critical energy infrastructure and its protection, climate change, and energy security.
