A commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 5th anniversary of martyrdom of the military pilot of the MiG-29 aircraft of the Air Force, Lieutenant Colonel Rashad Atakishiyev, who crashed during the training exercises was held, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.

The grave of the martyred military pilot was visited in the Second Alley of Martyrs, wreaths were laid, and his memory was honored.

Then, Azerbaijan Military History Museum hosted an event with the participation of representatives of the Defense Ministry and publicity, family members, relatives and comrades of the martyr.

Memory of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, and martyrs (Martyrs) was honored with observing a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.

The speakers spoke about the martyr’s honorable combat path, patriotism, professionalism, determination to fight and commitment to the national and moral values.

The family members of the martyr expressed their gratitude to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and the leadership of the Defense Ministry for the attention and care.

Then a video dedicated to Lieutenant Colonel Rashad Atakishiyev was screened.

Music pieces glorifying patriotism and heroism performed at the event.
