4 children died in the fire at the Republican Perinatal Center, and 3 people were poisoned by smoke, reads the joint statement by the Ministry of Emergencies and the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB), Report informs.

The fire at the Republican Perinatal Center, located on Yusif Safarov Street, Khatai District, Baku, was extinguished in a short time by the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Internal Affairs.

An examination of the incident site was conducted with the participation of senior officials of the General Prosecutor's Office, as well as necessary and urgent investigative actions were carried out.

3 people were hospitalized in the Toxicology Department of the Clinical Medical Center due to smoke poisoning. Necessary medical services were provided to them, their condition is stable, and they are scheduled to be discharged home for outpatient treatment.

“A criminal case has been launched into the case by the Investigative Department of the General Prosecutor's Office under Articles 225.3 (violation of fire safety rules causing the death of two or more people due to negligence) and 314.3 (negligence causing the death of two or more people) of the Criminal Code.

"At present, investigative and operational measures are being continued.

"The public will be regularly informed about the progress and results of the investigation.

"We offer our deepest condolences to the families and relatives of those who died in the incident, and we wish the injured to recover soon," the joint statement said.
