The Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband highway, which is of great importance for Azerbaijan, has been 80% completed, Anar Najafli, Head of Press Secretary of State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads, told XQ.
He said that one of the most important road infrastructure projects passing through Jabrayil and Zangilan districts is the construction of the part of the Zangazur corridor that passes through Azerbaijan:
"The length of the Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband highway is 123.5 km. Physical progress on the project is 80%. The road is being built with 4 and 6 traffic lanes according to the first technical grade. 58 underpasses, 27 bridges, and 3 tunnels with a length of 12 km are being built along the road. 89% of works on artificial facilities and 77% on bridges and tunnels have been completed. Parallel to the new road, the existing road with a length of 144 km is currently being reconstructed by us. These works are currently being carried out in the Horadiz-Zangilan section."
Najafli noted that another road starting from the Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghdam highway is the Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut highway:
"The total length of the road is 39.7 km. The road is being built with 4 traffic lanes according to the first technical grade. On October 19, 2022, the head of state participated in the opening of the 14.2 km section of the said road up to the city of Jabrayil, as well as the 8.2 km section after the city of Jabrayil on May 5 of this year. The construction of the rest of the road is ongoing and nearing completion."
