Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with Inga Ruginienė, Prime Minister of Lithuania, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The parties discussed the current friendly ties between Azerbaijan and Lithuania and the prospects for deepening cooperation. They emphasized that the Lithuanian Prime Minister’s official visit demonstrates the intention to further strengthen the existing sincere relations and collaboration between the two states.
Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that the historic ties and friendship between Azerbaijan and Lithuania provide a strong basis for bilateral cooperation. Noting that high-level reciprocal visits, political dialogue, and signed agreements provide a solid legal framework for cooperation, the Speaker stressed the importance of enhancing economic and trade relations.
Highlighting humanitarian cooperation, the Speaker stated that ties in education and culture play a crucial role in deepening relations between the peoples. She welcomed the large number of Azerbaijani students studying in Lithuanian universities and the ongoing joint cultural events.
The meeting highlighted the importance of interparliamentary cooperation, reciprocal visits, and collaboration between parliamentary committees.
Ruginienė noted that Lithuania places an emphasis on developing ties with Azerbaijan. She emphasized Lithuania’s commitment to strengthening ties with Azerbaijan and the need for cooperation in the economy, humanitarian affairs, defense, and security.
