Brazilian FM thanks Azerbaijan for facilitating evacuation of its citizens and diplomats from Iran

On March 23, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Brazil Mauro Vieira held a phone conversation with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

During the telephone conversation, the ministers discussed bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Brazil, mutual interaction on multilateral platforms, as well as the security situation in the Middle East.

The parties reviewed the activities of the Azerbaijan-Brazil Working Group on Trade and Investment and the opportunities for enhancing cooperation within its framework. Discussions also focused on the cooperation on the climate agenda, as well as joint coordination within the framework of COP29 and COP30.

The foreign ministers expressed serious concerns over the ongoing war in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of preventing further escalation of the situation. They noted the significance of resolving conflicts on the basis of the norms and principles of international law, through dialogue and diplomatic means.

The Brazilian side expressed its solidarity with Azerbaijan regarding the drone attack carried out against Azerbaijan from the territory of Iran.

The Brazilian minister expressed deep appreciation to Azerbaijan for facilitating the evacuation of its citizens and diplomats from Iran in the current security situation.

The ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
