S. Korean envoy briefed on Azerbaijan’s restoration efforts in liberated territories

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Baik Joohyeon, Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

The meeting focused on prospects for Azerbaijan–South Korea cooperation in political, economic, trade, educational, high-tech, and other areas.

Both officials emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and increasing reciprocal visits. They also highlighted the significance of the Azerbaijan–South Korea Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, as well as ongoing political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries. It was noted that 2027 will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and South Korea.

Discussions covered large-scale energy and transport projects implemented by Azerbaijan, the country’s plans to export alternative energy, and its cooperation with Central Asian countries, including interaction within the C6 format. The meeting underscored the importance of expanding interregional relations, enhancing transport and logistics capabilities, and fostering economic partnership.

Minister Bayramov briefed the Korean envoy on the current post-conflict situation in the region and Azerbaijan’s large-scale restoration efforts in its liberated territories. The discussion also touched on regional and international security developments, including issues in the Middle East.

Special Envoy Baik Joohyeon expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for facilitating the evacuation of South Korean nationals from Iran. The officials concluded the meeting by addressing other issues of mutual interest.
