“On March 5, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran carried out attacks from Iranian territory using unmanned aerial vehicles against Nakhchivan International Airport and other civilian infrastructure in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. The technical specifications of the drones and details of these attacks are currently under investigation,” the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan told AZERTAC.
The ministry strongly condemned the attacks, noting that they targeted civilian infrastructure without any military necessity.
“Full responsibility for the incident lies entirely with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan is preparing the necessary response measures to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country and to ensure the security of civilians and civilian infrastructure. These attacks will not go unanswered,” the statement added.
