Jeyhun Bayramov extends condolences to his Iranian counterpart on the death of Ayatollah Khamenei

Today, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Ceyhun Bayramov had a telephone conversation with Iran's Foreign Minister Seyid Abbas Araghchi.

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the phone call, the sides discussed the situation arising from military operations in Iran and military escalation in the region.

Iran's Foreign Minister provided information on the current situation and the steps taken.

Minister Bayramov expressed serious concern over the tragic escalation of tensions in the region. He conveyed condolences regarding the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyid Ali Khamenei and innocent civilians.

The sides expressed hope that military operations would cease soon and that the existing situation would be resolved solely through dialogue and diplomatic means, in full accordance with the norms and principles of international law.

At the same time, Bayramov reiterated that it is impossible for Azerbaijan's territory to be used by any country against neighboring and friendly Iran.

During the telephone conversation, the Ministers had an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
