“2025 was a very important year in terms of relationship between Azerbaijan and the United States,” Robert Cekuta, former U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, told AZERTAC.
“I don't think we can underestimate how important the agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia is. I think the important thing here is, first of all, the work Azerbaijan and Armenia did with each other to establish the peace agreement. Secondly, the U. S. came in a very active, positive role to help Azerbaijan and Armenia move this forward. The key piece here was certainly the agreements on August 8th. I think what was important is the creativity that was shown in terms of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) in terms of finding a way to address the concerns of both Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
He noted that there is the evolving interest of the U. S. in Central Asia. Azerbaijan, a South Caucasus country, a part of that and is integral to the security of Central Asia and the Middle Corridor.
