Lu Mei, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Azerbaijan, described the 2025 as a landmark and most fruitful year in the history of the China-Azerbaijan relations.
Addressing a media briefing on the outcomes of the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, the diplomat highlighted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China this April, the signing of the Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China, as well as 20 agreements covering various areas, and the Azerbaijani head state’s participation at the events marking 80th Anniversary of the Chinese people’s resistance against Japanese aggression and the Victory in World War II.
The Chinese diplomat underscored the close collaboration between the two countries in international organizations, including the United Nations (UN) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). According to her, China supports Azerbaijan’s intention to join the SCO and the country’s efforts as the Chairman of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
