On December 23, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Greece to Azerbaijan, Maria Papaconstantinou.

The ambassador presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Bayramov, who congratulated her on the appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic mission.

The meeting focused on the current state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece, as well as regional and global issues.

Both sides noted that contacts and discussions between the heads of state and government not only lay the foundation for relations but also create momentum for broader cooperation. The importance of bilateral political dialogue, including regular political and consular consultations between the foreign ministries, was emphasized.

The participants highlighted the potential for collaboration in economy, trade, investment, traditional and renewable energy, transport and transit, shipping, agriculture, tourism, and culture. They also stressed the importance of fostering the Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial, and Technological Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece.

Minister Bayramov provided insights into post-conflict realities and ongoing normalization efforts with Armenia, underlining mutual trust and respect in cooperation within international and regional bodies.

Ambassador Papaconstantinou expressed gratitude for the reception and pledged to spare no effort in further developing Azerbaijani-Greek relations during her tenure.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
