Azerbaijani FM meets with President of Italian Senate

As part of his visit to Italy, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs met with Ignazio La Russa, President of the Italian Senate.

The sides hailed the dynamic development of relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, which have reached the level of strategic partnership, emphasizing that in recent years, bilateral relations based on mutual trust, common interests and active political dialogue have further deepened.

They also lauded the development of multifaceted cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italian in deferent areas, including policy, defense and security, economy and trade, energy as well as renewable energy, humanitarian support, tourism, culture and education.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov underlined that the participation of the Italian President in the opening ceremony of the Italy-Azerbaijan University, and the participation of the Italian Prime Minister at the COP29 Leaders' Summit in Azerbaijan, as well as high-level contacts between the leaders of the two countries have given additional impetus to relations.

The parties described the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations and continuous political dialogue as crucial for the future development of relations. They highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening the institutional foundations of cooperation between the two countries, as well as increasing mutual support on regional and international parliamentary platforms.

Minister Bayramov also provided insight into the post-conflict realities arising from the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region, including the large-scale restoration, reconstruction and reintegration processes in the liberated territories, as well as the participation of Italian companies in this process.

The two also exchanged views on the regional security environment, multilateral cooperation formats, issues on the international agenda, and other matters of mutual concern.
