Azerbaijan is a state that always advocates for peace, unity, and solidarity. It is no coincidence that 2025 was declared the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" in Azerbaijan. This year is an indicator of deep respect for our historical roots, our statehood will, and our values of freedom, said Birol Akgün, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, at a scientific-practical conference on the theme "Restoration of the Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty of Azerbaijan: International Legal Aspects."
The ambassador then added that with the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 and the anti-terror measures carried out in 2023, Azerbaijan restored full sovereignty on its lands. This is the restoration of historical justice, a great victory and a source of pride for the entire Turkic world.
Turkey has always stood next to Azerbaijan. "President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's open and firm support, his words, ‘We share Azerbaijan's joy as our joy, and its sorrow as our sorrow,' are a symbol of our brotherhood," the diplomat added. He expressed hope that the imminent conclusion of a final agreement on the Zangezur corridor would further unite the Turkic world.
