An Azerbaijani delegation is participating in the 28th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the supreme decision-making body of the organization, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on September 8–19.
The Congress, convened every four years, elects the Director General and Deputy Director General of the UPU’s International Bureau, as well as the chairpersons and members of the Postal Operations Council (POC) and the Council of Administration (CA).
This year, Azerbaijan has nominated itself for both councils and is taking part in the elections. As the supreme decision-making body of the UPU, the Congress serves as the main platform for shaping policies and regulations in international postal services. This high-level gathering, which defines the future development of the global postal system, brings together representatives of all 192 UPU member countries. During the election process, 41 members are chosen for the councils from five UPU regions.
Ahead of the Congress, the EMS Awards ceremony was held. “Azerpost” LLC, one of the AZCON Holding companies, received the silver award for its efficient performance and ranked among the top winners in the customer service category A.
