Azerbaijan, Romania discuss interparliamentary ties

Members of the Milli Majlis' working group on interparliamentary relations with Romania met with visiting delegation led by Cristian Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, Chair of the Romanian Senate’s Committee on Culture and Media, and member of the Romania-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group.

Azay Guliyev, Head of the Milli Majlis Working Group on Azerbaijan-Romania Inter-Parliamentary Relations, commended the visit of Niculescu-Țâgârlaș to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, particularly their climbing to the “Heydar Aliyev” peak.

Highlighting the positive impact of interparliamentary cooperation to bilateral relations, Azay Guliyev emphasized the importance of interaction between the parliamentary friendship groups in this area.

Guliyev also shared his views on the importance of relations within international organizations and strengthening parliamentary diplomacy.

Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș shared impressions from the delegation’s visit to the Karabakh economic region, describing the climbing to the “Heydar Aliyev” peak as a profound tribute to the memory of the National Leader. He lauded the ongoing restoration and construction efforts in the region under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, and expressed his views on the potential of cooperation between the two countries and the development of inter-parliamentary relations.

Other members of Azerbaijan’s inter-parliamentary group, including Kamal Jafarov, Aydin Mirzazade, and Samir Valiyev, along with Florin Andrejkuts, head of the Maramureș County Bar Association in Romania, noted that bilateral relations have advanced successfully through active high-level political dialogue. They underlined the need to continue mutually beneficial cooperation across both bilateral and international parliamentary platforms.

The meeting continued with a discussion of other issues of mutual interest.
